Taking on the role and responsibilities of an FSO or Insider Threat Program Security Officer can seem like a daunting task. Training and education are the first steps every FSO needs to take to understand what is expected and required of them. Establishing a comprehensive security program will create the foundation required to maintain your companies Facility Security Clearance.

Knowledge is not power, application of knowledge is. Once an FSO has taken the requisite training, implementation of the knowledge obtained is critical. Knowing what is required under each DD-254 and knowing what is required within the place of performance will form an action plan to ensure security procedures are established and met.
